Introduction to the material and application of heat shrinkable tubing

2016-06-02

Heat shrinkable tubing (heat shrinkable tubing) scientific name: radiation cross-linked heat shrinkable tubing; heat shrinkable tubing uses a variety of materials, currently on the market is mainly polyolefin. Polyolefin is a polymer material, and is currently the most studied and used heat shrinkable material. Polyolefin is a collective term; it has thermal shrinkage, electrical insulation, physical and mechanical properties, and chemical resistance. This is also the reason why this type of product is the most widely used (of course the low price is also an essential factor).
Common polyolefin materials are: polyethylene (pe), vinyl acetate copolymer (eva), polyvinyl chloride, polytetrafluoroethylene, polyvinylidene chloride and so on. Their response temperature varies greatly from type to type. It ranges from 80°C to 180°C; therefore, various types of heat shrinkable tubes have different uses. The fluorine-containing material has a higher response temperature and is mostly used in applications requiring high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance; eva has a lower response temperature, so it is suitable for low-temperature shrinkage heat shrinkable tubes, which are used in the protection of home appliances or electronic components.
The long-term use temperature of this product is -40℃-125℃, so it is also widely used in wire and cable connection protection. When some customers use polyolefin polymers to prepare heat-shrinkable materials that cannot meet the requirements, they usually adopt pe as the The matrix is blended with other polymers to achieve the purpose. Such as: pe and edpm are blended to make outdoor cable protective sleeves with high strength and aging resistance.
